Was recommended to us by our lyft driver. Food came out hot and fresh. About the same price as everything else on this island. Could have used maybe a little bit hot sauce, that might just be my preference. The macaroni salad is amazing next time I just eat a couple of cups of that . The dinner portions are very large. Between mounds of white rice and macaroni salad I don't know why anyone would be hungry.
I had a good experience eating at Rainbow Drive-In in Liliha area. Service was excellent and food was fresh. My friends liked their food as well.
Good prices but portion sizes are a little smaller than the old days. Probably a good thing for most people, but don't expect to go halfsies on breakfast. The build your own plate was larger portions. Had the rainbow royal cheeseburger and it was really yummy, great flavor and cooked just right. The fries were also cooked too perfection, crisp outsides, soft inner and not too salty. Simple fare but executed well. Got some nostalgia plates to go, shoyu chicken (not avaliable every day) and boneless chicken plate. This was at the Kalihi location, I hope the cooks at the other locations are as proficient
Fresh off a 5 hour flight, hungry and parched and wanting something local. Rainbow Drive-in hit all the check boxes. The food was amazing. The service was prompt and courteous. The atmosphere was very laid back. The only downside was limited seated.
Food was amazing, we tried the chili bowl with rice and sliced beef sandwhich. Both were phenomenal!
Good food and friendly staff. My pork cutlet was hot, fresh, and delicious. Not too busy around 1pm and there's parking in the back.
Rainbow Drive-In, kalihi. To me Rainbows will always be Rainbows. I had the boneless chicken gravy. Of course I loved it. Parking is sparse, but I was lucky to get a spot in the back. Service was quick and friendly. It's worth a try and you decide how it compares to the original.
We got carry-out from here, and we were so happy! The bbq beef was so incredible! I really wanted to go back to get seconds. It was about 30 min drive from where we were staying. So worth the drive! My husband ordered the Loco moco, and it was just okay. The beef patties were very thin and not the best tasting in our opinion. Our favorite place on the island for Loco moco has been at a food truck at Polynesian Culture Center. So again, the bbq beef is highly satisfying here, and we would recommend that. The macaroni salad was also pretty good. I also ordered the Saimin here, and that was okay. This was my first time trying it, so I have nothing to compare it to. If I came back here, I wouldn't get the saimin again because it tasted like basic noodles in a cup very light seasoning. I have no picture of my bbq beef because once I tasted it I couldn't stop eating.
